Lord I Believe, Help My Unbelief

Jesus lets us know in Mark 9 : 23, that if we can believe, all things will be possible, to those of us who believes. To “believe” is to accept that (something) is true without proof. (Oxford dictionary) Where as “faith” involves reliance and trust; and endures in the face of doubts.

In today’s reading, Jesus listened to the dad who spoke to Him from the crowd. He then asks the dad, if he believed, The dad cried out to Jesus affirming that he did, but then, being conscious of any unbelief he may have, he asks Jesus to “help my unbelief.”

Belief is not something we can obtain without help. Neither is faith. One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is “faith” (1 Cointhians 12:9) We can obtain help to believe, by accepting the Holy Trinity as truth, without proof. Thomas wanted to touch Jesus, before he was willing to believe it was Jesus. He wanted a direct personal experience. (John 20: 24 -25)

Jesus call those who believe, but have not seen “Blessed” (John20:29)

During your fast this week, pray:

• That Jesus will help any unbelief we may have within us, about the God, Himself, and the Holy Spirit.

• Ask Jesus to increase our belief, so that we will know that nothing is too difficult for God . Belief along with faith, will enable us to have everything we need to serve God. For with God, all things a re possible, as He only has our best interests at heart.
